When you hear “Christian Production Company” you think “Oh jeez” and look the other way. Sadly I find myself doing the same thing. I think one of the biggest issues in modern Christian storytelling is the lack of subtly, nuance and realism.
The famous phrase often attributed to Saint Augustine is “The road to heaven feels like hell. The road to hell feels like heaven.” and Christ says in the gospel according to Saint John “Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” Ultimately good triumphs over evil in the end of days, but until then this world that we live in is governed by none other than the great deceiver himself, Satan. This is why it feels like hell to get to heaven, as Saint Augustine said, because the more we grow in our relationship with Christ, the more we detach ourselves from this world. And when we do that, we become a danger to Satan, another warrior in the heavenly army to topple over his kingdom. So he goes on the attack.
There is no such thing as “once saved, always saved.” We are in a constant 24/7 fight with the evil one for the salvation of our souls and only looking towards Christ and arming yourselves with the heavy ammunition of prayer will you come out on top. It doesn’t stop until our bodies die.
So why do I bring this up? What does this have to do with LODA STUDIOS and modern Christian storytelling? Everything. I know some people who tell me they hate horror movies because there is already enough horror in this world. And to that I say “Exactly!” That is exactly why we need horror movies, to keep us in constant remembrance of the demons whose playground is the earth. Know your enemy. Is this not the most important part of warfare? If you don’t know your enemy, how will you know how to fight? How will you know how they fight? How will you know whose side you’re really on?
My favorite genre is horror and with LODA STUDIOS I plan to make it a mostly horror/thriller based production studio with great emphasis on the most disturbing aspects of this world. As Christ spoke in parables, I strive to make thematically rich fictional stories that offer great insight on how this world really works. Whether it’s stories about losing faith, succumbing to the passions, fighting for what is right or what you may think is right, LODA STUDIOS is here to rip the band-aid and give you the tough, unbashful truth in stories made FOR YOU no matter if you like it or not.
